How the Denver Broncos together with their 'play-dough' quarterback can end that Chiefs' rule.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage includes live text for the weekend matchups via various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season and after recent talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the number of penalties both conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.
However it proved positive to observe how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to have the shortfall before direct three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.
The Broncos have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in red zone defence, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that battle.
They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending extra defenders instead they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, it was noted during a show how Denver could be the current year's dark horses. They finished last season strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has stepped up significantly while new running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.
That shows how the Broncos represent a squad that wants to run first, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in favourable down and distances.
This has helped quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they lack the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.
His assets are his movement, the capacity to throw while moving, as well as using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
When you consistently run the ball it eats up time and forces the defence to stay on the field for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area downfield side to side. It can be draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and has passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB helps shape him into who he is.
There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and build self-belief.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a good place to be in their division. The key is to continue this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the only team without a win a game.
Since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
