New information has come to light regarding the tragic deaths of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

Additionally refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
